About BIN

The Building Indiana News story begins in the months leading up to the fall of 2005 when Diversified Marketing Strategies, Inc. published its first edition of Building Indiana News as a 16-page newsletter. The impetus for the publication came from Diversified’s initial client base, those companies in the economic development and construction industries, who constantly searched for publications offering advertising opportunities to effectively reach the industries’ target audience.

The magazine has been deemed a success by its subscribers and advertisers, but along with the accolades came a demand for more.

  • More expert commentary
  • Greater geographical focus
  • Additional ad space available
  • Expanded editorial departments

To meet the demand, a magazine development specialist was brought in to help the magazine grow. Focus was on a redesign to promote greater readership and a faster read without sacrificing content; a tighter editorial focus; and expanded circulation and subscribership.

In addition Building Indiana News is applying for a circulation audit through BPA Worldwide, the global industry resource for verified audience data. Building Indiana News is committed to annual audits, unlike our competitors who may have applied once or twice but no longer audit annually or those who never have invested in the industry standard for confirming magazine subscribership.

Building Indiana News’ management and readers share a belief in quality, as a magazine devoted to providing information needed to enhance business success. We encourage our subscribers to think of Building Indiana News as their own magazine and provide our staff with editorial suggestions on emerging issues and trends and opinions offering a different perspective.

Since the magazine’s first publication in late 2005, our subscription base has more than doubled and we have received four prestigious publication awards, most recently a Summit Award for our editorial content. By working together with business and economic development leaders, Building Indiana News will continue to serve as the premier business-to-business magazine for Northern Indiana.
